Help Wanted

I am planning on having a huge yard sale in a couple weeks but I need some advice. How do you know what kind of prices to put on things? I've never been good at putting these things together. I mostly just want all the clutter gone but it would be nice to make as much as possible back on these items before I ship it all off to goodwill. I will take all the advice you can give. If you have successful yard sales...what's the trick? If you love to yard sale....what should I do to make people happy?

Clothes don't sell well unless it's kids. People want stuff, stuff, and more stuff. Prices depend, what are you selling? I think some people posted stuff on their blog, I bought some things from Jami once and Chris & Megan sweetly gave me some things I told them I would buy. Make sure you put it in the Leader too. Good luck.

I agree, stuff usually does sell better. I usually put $1 or $2 on shirts, depending on the condition. I have put up to $4 on pants, depending on condition and brand. If you have things that go together, be sure to them togehter and maybe even price as a group. You can come take a look at our stuff that morning if you want. I have never made less than around $150 in one of our yard sales.

Post your yard sale info on craigslist. Lots of people look on there for yard sales.

Definitely put price tags on things. I hate when I show up to a sale and you have to ask what something costs.

You can also advertise on Craigslist & list some of the things you are selling.

Tabbi, Cindi and Maryce seem to do well - you should ask them!

price everything. i get annoyed when things aren't priced. people always tell me that i price things too low. they always say "your things are cheap". i say "hey, the more you buy the less i have to drag out of here." i always sell almost everything though.....all clothes (adult and kids), trinkets, everything. when i get tired of sitting out there i say "everything is 50% off" ha ha!! i always make a lot of money though!

Let me know if you would like me to come over and help price things out with you. It's more fun when you have someone pricing with you. I don't mind give me a call or send me an email. :)

I think the location of the yard sale has a lot to do with how well you do as well as where you put your signs. We always put one infront of Silver Creek High School, Salem Noble, 62, and if any of the other subdivisions on salem noble are having one at the sametime we will put one in the entrance there.

I put reasonable prices on most of my stuff. I normally look at it and price it at what I would pay for it at a yardsale. Shirts no more than $3 and pants no more than $5 and I only price them that high if they are in great condition.

If you need any help you can always give me a call. Josh and I are getting ready to have on either May14th or May 21st.

Keep in mind our neighborhood advertises for the yard sale, so you really shouldn't have to do that.

Thanks for all the helpful tips! I'm going to get started this week to PRICE EVERYTHING. That's something I haven't done in the past. We'll see if it makes a big difference. :)
