The End to a Great Week...

This has been a great week!

First, things are starting to slow down with my practice/cheer schedule. That means I have a little more time to get things together in my classroom. It's so nice not having that "I have a million things hanging over my head" feeling.

Second, I got to catch up with my friends Aimee(I actually see her every day but we can talk and talk like we haven't seen each other in weeks all the time) and Jamie on Thursday night. We went to Panera to grab dinner and talk. It was a lot of fun.

Third, Jonathon and I had a dinner/movie date with Jen and Ryan last night. It's been months since we've been able to do that because of b-ball season. We missed them. It was a blast as usual.

Fourth, Jonathon and I were able to go to the gym five days this week. That's a good workout week!

Fifth, our JJ squad took First Place and Grand Champion for the third year in a row at the St. A's competition in Louisville. It's our favorite competition of the year because the competition is usually pretty steep. We love a challenge. Our girls worked so hard. It was so much fun seeing their reactions today. Congrats to New Washington who won big in their division as well. I wish I could have seen them perform. I got to wish Tabby and Desiree congrats after their awards ceremony. Go Greater Clark Elementary cheer squads!!

Tonight, Jonathon and I are relaxing with a movie and doing laundry. I love our "boring" life!

The Light at the End....

I can see the light of free time approaching in the distance. I have about two weeks of cheer/basketball season left. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy coaching....but I'm always ready for the season to wind down. I feel like my "put that aside until I have time to deal with it" stacks at school and home have piled so high they are about to tip over. It's a good thing we do all of our bills online or we would probably be in big trouble right now. I've been so forgetful lately....too many things to hold in this head of mine!

My sister asked me why I haven't been blogging lately...I could say it's because I'm so busy, but really I think it's mostly because life is pretty boring right now. Not boring bad...definitely boring good. Who wants to hear about every little thing I do? Jonathon and I have gotten into a nice routine of dinner, gym, ice cream every night (yeah I know they cancel each other out) and I've been trying to balance life. Pretty boring...

The highlight of this weekend was getting to babysit my nephew for a few hours on Sunday. I got to teach Jonathon how to hold a baby. He was so cute holding Connor. :) Connor is the best baby. I can only hope our first child is like him! He truly only whines or cries when he needs to be changed or fed. Kristen gave him a haircut this week....at 8 weeks old! He still has a head full of hair though. I would post a picture but I've been really bad about taking pictures lately. We met them for dinner tonight and I got to take a look. He looks like a little man. He's so stinkin' cute!

Red Plate Dinner

One of our wedding gifts (from Nora) was a red place setting to begin a Red Plate Dinner tradition with our family. I had never heard of this before but you pull out the red place setting to celebrate something special for one of the family members. It can be a birthday, promotion, celebration of any kind...

Tonight I pulled out the red plates for Jonathon. He had hit the 500 hour mark for flying helicopters. He has more hours than that but it's in planes or simulators. The Army only recognizes the pure hours in a helicopter. Once you hit the 500 mark you begin to be looked at with a little more trustworthiness in the air and you are given more leadership opportunities. He's been counting down the needed time by the tenth of an hour. Today he hit the big mark. We had salad, pasta, and bread sticks for dinner (one of his favorites) and I served him on the red plates.

I'm so proud of him!

Update

This week has been a busy one...

Monday-JJ cheer practice, then I actually got to go home and have dinner with my husband as well as make a trip to the gym. :)

Tuesday- I took a half-day so I could take Maddie out for her birthday. We went out to eat, I had her nails done, and then we were off to see a movie. The movie theater wasn't open...even though I checked the times online...so she settled for checking out the animals at the Bass Pro Shop. I had never been there so it was a treat for me. We ended our time with a trip to Starbucks. She got a chocolate drink (no coffee). I introduced her to two of my favorite treats today! She went to CHS cheer practice with me then I took her home. From there it was on to the Relay for Life Team Captain. I found out that they moved Clark County's relay to June so I'm going to miss it. I'll still lead our team at JJ, but I'm not sure the actual campsite thing is going to happen this year. I'll have to see if someone will help out with that. I came home and Jonathon was in the mood for pizza. Mmm...guilty good.

Wednesday-JJ game. (Pirates win!) Then it was a trip to the gym with Jonathon where I ran into a guy I graduated with. I found out his nephew is in my writing class. Charlestown is a small world. It was nice to catch up.

Thursday- CHS practice. I kinda had a rough day. I came home and sent Jonathon to the gym by himself. I needed some me time. :) I made a yummy dinner for him while he was gone though. Mmm...sweet and sour chicken.

Friday- JJ practice, CHS game. I came home and passed out. I was sooo tired from the week.

Saturday- I woke up early this morning and served up pancakes at the JJ Athletic Fund pancake breakfast. We raised enough money to purchase new track/cross country uniforms. I'm so excited! I ran some errands and met up with Kristen for lunch. I'm home now getting ready to head out to Russell's 30th birthday dinner...but I have to leave to make it to another game tonight. I'll have to post pictures of the celebration later...
